Dr. Sacha Krstulović is an AI researcher who gradually became a manager of AI technology. Sacha got his PhD in 2001 from Lausanne's Swiss Polytechnic Federal Institute. After two post-docs, one at the INRIA in France on biometric voice recognition and one in Germany at the DFKI on expressive text-to-speech synthesis, in 2007 he joined Toshiba as a research engineer. Later, he moved to Nuance, then provider of speech services for the iPhone, to work on voicemail-to-text transcription as a senior research engineer. In 2012 he joined startup Audio Analytic as employee number 4, for what became 9 years of history that led to Audio Analytic's acquisition by Meta. At Audio Analytic, Sacha was in charge of building and inventing general sound event recognition technology from the ground up (e.g. glass break sounds, dog barks, baby cries etc.), recruiting the necessary teams and participating in strategic market development decisions from the angle of technical feasibility and development costs. In 2022, he joined mutinational and multi-million dollar company Music Tribe as Head of AI Research, where he formed a 14 staff R&D team and developed the company's strategy in AI for music processing across a portfolio of 10 company brands. Following the dissolution of Music Tribe's research division, he joined Canopy as Head of AI Engineering in 2023, to strategise and improve an AI-based security product for the automotive sector, based on a computer vision and radar hardware platform.
Sacha's knowledge therefore spans a deep technical understanding of AI technology across different applications and different modalities, as well as the team management, product development and business strategic aspects which support AI-based products.
Today, he is passionate about sharing his knowledge and contributing it back to businesses who seek to understand the modern AI landscape beyond media-induced myths. By bringing AI back to practical grounds, Sacha helps businesses to succeed in building value with AI.
